Compare conventional Kentucky Bluegrass water usage of 18,000 gallons with Diva's thrifty 8,000 gallon use. Saving 10,000 gallons of water is just part of the picture. Appearance criteria – days to 50% green – shows ProSeeds' Diva outlasts the competing America, Midnight Star, and Texas Hybrids. Over a 90 day trial, Diva decreased water usage by 50% compared to Solar Green, Reveille Midnight, Eagleton, and Bluestone.

TWCA Certified Drought Tolerant. Culumbra II is one of the only CERTIFIED drought tolerant chewings fescue available in the market. Through rigorous testing in various locations throughout the US, The Turfgrass Water Conservation Alliance (TWCA) has scientifically proven that Culumbra II maintains its green cover with less water. Using Digital Image Analysis (DIA), Culumbra II retained a 25% green cover for an average of 10 days longer than other chewings fescues! Along with drought tolerance, it also exhibits a distinct deep dark green, fine-textured turf. Recognized for its reduced rate of vertical growth and low maintenance attributes, Culumbra II tolerates low height of cut for tightly mowed fairways and winter overseeding of greens. It has good shade tolerance and is adapted to low fertility and moderately high pH soil conditions. Culumbra II requires soils with good to excellent internal drainage for optimal turf performance.

TWCA Certified “Drought Resistant” Falcon IV is a new and improved, heat and disease resistant, tall fescue variety developed for superior turf quality across a wide area of adaptation. It is dark green in color, fine textured with excellent wear tolerance. Falcon IV exhibits a unique combination of traits including dense growth, improved turf quality and resistance to brown patch incited by Rhizoctonia solani. Falcon IV is an endophyte enhanced tall fescue with >92% Neotyphodium coenophialum endophyte which provides resistance to a number of leaf and crown feeding insects and nematodes. The presence of endophyte also contribute to improved biotic and abiotic stress tolerance, faster seedling establishment, enhanced fall recover and reduced summer weed invasion. Falcon IV has been proven to use LESS water while maintaining green cover.

A new line of drought resistant turf coming 2011

Compact Types

Low compact growth and good leaf spot resistance. This group has long winter dormancy (except P-105) and good stripe smut resistance.

Examples: Princeton-105, Diva, Moonlight, Blackstone, Apex, Glade, Alpin

Chewings Fescue

Chewings fescues have a bunch type growth habit, form denser turf than strong creeping red fescue, tend to be more disease resistant, and persistent under low maintenance. Of the fine fescues, chewing fescue is the most tolerant of close, continuous mowing and traffic pressure. From Northern Europe and bred for improved turf quality in hot, dry climates of North America.
